The word Pichwai, literally translates to 'that which hangs at the back', and refers to a unique form of pictorial painting on cloth. The Pichwai style of painting  originated over 400 years ago, in the town of Nathdwara near Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. Intricate and visually stunning, Pichwai paintings, is hand made on cloth with colors and Pure Gold Leaves. Creating a Pichwai can take several months as the smallest details need to be painted with precision. The unique method to apply pure Gold leaves requires immense skill and adds to the splendor of each art piece.
